The Bike Depot

The PEDAL Bike Depot is a bicycle education and recycling workshop, launched in the Winter of 2006, where most of PEDAL's charitable and educational programs take place.

The Depot Has Moved!

In the middle of July 2009 a dedicated group of volunteers helped to move the Depot (yet again, 3 times in 2 years) to a new space. This time we're at 1830 Ontario St (at 2nd Avenue). We are now opening up the shop from 3pm to 6pm Monday through Friday and Saturday 12pm to 6pm to sell some new parts/accessories and help people to fix their bikes. It is set up similarly to Our Community Bikes just on a smaller scale and with slightly limited capacity. There are also volunteering opportunities at the Depot for those interested in supporting our organization and learning a thing or two about bikes. Please call 604.708.4992 for more information or to let us know when you'd like to come in to volunteer.

Free Bike Program

Many of the bicycles refurbished at the Depot are given away through the Free Bike Program which was previously run through OCB. Depot staff work with community volunteers, who learn to repair bicycles while building them up for people in need. We get refurbished bicycles to people who wouldn't otherwise have an opportunity to own one. The opening of the Depot has allowed PEDAL to greatly increase the number of bikes we're able to give away.! If you would like to learn more about the Free Bike Program click HERE.

Youth Earn A Bike

Although this program is currently on hold, we hope to be able to offer it again in the near future (pending funding). The Earn A Bike (EAB) program happens at the Depot and gives Vancouver youth between the ages of 12 and 18 the opportunity to build themselves a bicycle. Each session of EAB has space for 6 participants, runs for 5 week and meets twice/week. To find out more about this program go HERE,
